Apple Peach Cobbler

After a delicious meal of meat and potatoes, I thought a comforting dessert like cobbler sounded perfect. I have made peach cobbler several times before using Paula Deen's recipe, but I decided to spice it up. I made my version, which I like to call an Apple Peach Cobbler and here is the recipe. It turned out great and is super easy!!

Apple Peach Cobbler
adapted from Paula Deen

Ingredients:
1 cup of fresh sliced peaches
1 cup of fresh sliced apples
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 cup water
1 cup sugar

8 tbsp. (1 stick) butter
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup self-rising flour
3/4 cup milk

Clean, peel, and slice the peaches and apples. Then place the peaches and apples, nutmeg and cinnamon in a saucepan with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Stir the ingredients together and bring to a boil. Once it's been brought to a boil, let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir often, making sure the sugar is completely dissolved.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the butter in a deep baking dish and place it in the oven to melt. Mix 1 cup of sugar and the flour. Then add the milk slowly to prevent lumping. Pour this mixture over the melted butter, but do not stir. Spoon the fruit on top, gently pouring the syrup in. Still do not stir; the batter will rise to the top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 min.
This tastes great with a scoop of vanilla icecream.
