Super Bowl Potato Bar
Super Bowl Potato Bar
by Jennifer Carlisle
When serving a crowd of people for an event like the SuperBowl, it will be easier for your guests and for you if you keep it simple. Having a wide variety of food, spread out like a buffet, gives guests the option to eat when they want. A potato bar is a great way to do that and requires little cooking.
Bake enough potatoes for each guest and a couple extra. Scrub each potato clean, then dry. Poke each one with a fork a couple of times. Rub each potato with olive oil. Bake in an oven at 375 degrees for approximately 60-80 min. depending on the size of the potato. If you run out of room in your oven you can also use a roasting pan, grill, or slow cooker to bake the potatoes. To accompany the potatoes give your guests a variety of toppings. You can have as many as you would like. Here are some of my favorites.
Toppings:
Butter
Sourcream
Cheese
Chives
Bacon
Ranch Dressing
Honey Mustard Dressing
BBQ Sauce
Steak Sauce
Chili
Broccoli
Onion
Garlic
Chicken Bits
Steak Bits
Pulled Pork
Pulled Chicken
Smoked Sausage
Brisket
If you wind up using the chili as a topping, and you have enough, you can do a chili bar with it. The cheese, sourcream, and onion will go perfect with the chili. Having a little crunch like oyster crackers or corn chips such as Fritos will taste great too!
