Whiskey BBQ Bacon Burgers

Whiskey BBQ Bacon Burgers
by Jennifer Carlisle

What's not to love about a burger with cheese, bacon, bbq sauce... oh and WHISKEY!?!?!?!?! The first time I made these burgers I was feeling a little buzzed after I stood up. I thought I had cooked all the alcohol out of the sauce, but I guess not :). It was so worth it though. The whiskey adds an amazing flavor, but feel free to use less if you don't think you can handle it all. Enjoy and Cheers!

Ingredients:
-1 tbsp butter
-1-1.5 lbs ground beef
- 1 tsp House Seasoning (1/4 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp black pepper, 1/8 tsp garlic powder)
-1 med. onion; chopped
-3/4 cup favorite BBQ sauce
-1/4-1/3 cup Bourbon Whiskey (when I made this, I did not measure it, I simply did 3 large splashes of Whiskey into the pan. It was probably roughly 1/3 a cup, give or take ;))
-4 hamburger buns
-4 slices american or cheddar cheese
-4 slices of  cooked bacon (I deep fried mine in vegetable shortening. Make it however you like)

Divide ground beef into equal fourths, then shape into thin hamburger patties. Season burger patties with House Seasoning. In a large skillet, over medium heat, melt butter, then add burger patties. Cook for approximately 5-7 minutes each side. Remove burgers and set on a foil lined plate. Remove all but about 1 tbsp of burger grease from the pan (I spoon it out). Add onion, BBQ sauce, and whiskey, stir and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and tender. Then place the burgers and the grease that has accumulated on the plate back in the pan with the sauce and spoon some of the sauce over the burgers to coat them with the delicious goodness. Cook sauce and burgers over low heat for 10 minutes or until burgers are done. Place burgers on buns with cheese and bacon and spoon some more sauce over it. Serve with extra sauce on the side and some good crispy fries.

*Serves 4
