Refreshing Peach Sun Tea
I love love love iced tea. I usually make mine decaf and sweeten it a little. Sometimes I like a little bit of flavor though. Some of my favorite flavors with tea are raspberry, mango, and peach. You can of course buy flavored tea bags at the store or you can just add your own nectar and flavor your tea as much as you'd like. These Jumex cans are great for flavoring drinks. I like to use them with sparkling wines and teas. They can usually be found at the grocery store with all of the Mexican foods or International foods. I found some for .59 cents a can. When I make my tea I usually use tap water at a really hot temp - the hottest it can get. I place the sugar down in the bottom of the pitcher. I add a little water, swirl it around a bit to get the sugar dissolved, then add the rest of my water. Then I let it sit out on my kitchen counter for about 20-30 minutes or until the tea has steeped enough and is as strong as I would like it. Then on nice hot summer days I will take my pitcher outside and let it steep out in the sun. You can make this tea either indoor or outdoors, and you don't just have to drink it in the summer. I enjoy tea all year round- that's why I use the hot tap water method a lot. I hope you enjoy this recipe and maybe even experiment with some of your other favorite flavors I think they even have guava and strawberry cans of nectar. Yum!
Refreshing Peach Sun Tea
Ingredients:-
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 8 cups hot water ( I usually let my tap water run until very hot then use it or you can boil yours)
- 8 tea bags of black tea ( 1 tea bag per cup of water)
- 1 can Jumex Peach Nectar from concentrate ( depending on how strong of peach flavor you want you can also use 1+ cans of nectar)
- fresh, frozen, canned peaches for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
In a large pitcher (about 2 quarts) add sugar. Then add in 2 cups of hot water, swirl water around with sugar to help it dissolve. Add the rest of the hot water. Place the tea bags in the water, cover, then allow to steep in the sun on a hot day or on your kitchen counter at room temperature for at least 20 minutes. When tea water looks dark and is to your liking, remove the tea bags and pour in one whole can of Jumex Peach Nectar. Stir. Serve over lots of ice. Garnish with fresh, frozen, or canned peaches. Enjoy!
*If you'd like to use room temperature water and steep your tea out in the sun all day that is the traditional way to make sun tea. Either method will make this tea.
